Wedding: Our Photo Shoot

Michael and I have never done a photo shoot before, (unless outfit of the day posts count) so this experience was a little odd. Luckily our photographers were fantastic and made us feel pretty relaxed. We gave them free reign to use their imagination and create wonderful photos for us. In other words, "Michael and I have no idea what we're doing so please help us." haha. It worked. Most of our favourite shots are from us messing around, or basically just having a laugh.  So these are what came of our little shoot...

And there we have it. Only the reception left to go. I love every second of our day, though the reception was just up our street.

Wedding: After The Ceremony

So we're back with the wedding posts and we're almost done. I loved our wedding day so much and it's amazing that I can re-live it all over again with our pictures. Here we are outside the church straight after the ceremony. I didn't want many formal pictures so most of the ones we have are just full of laughter just like our day.

Next up are the pictures from our professional wedding photo shoot. At first these were uncomfortable as it's not something that Mike and I have ever done, but in the end we relaxed and ended up with some pictures that we truly love.

Wedding: The Ceremony

Here we are at my favourite and most important part of the day, the vows. We smiled and laughed so much throughout the day that it was hard to find serious shots. haha. We laughed with happiness rather than through nervousness. If I could go back and relive this part over and over again... I would! 

For some reason I cannot get these pictures equal sizes, even though I have physically re-size all the pictures to the same width. So I guess I will have to make do with a messy blog. I love how these posts are beginning to tell the story of our day, and as you can tell it was a very happy day indeed, with many, many smiles.

Wedding: Arriving at the Church

I've always wanted a church ceremony when I was to be married, but not at just any church. The Church we chose was actually where my Nanna and Granddad were married and also where my parents were married, which means it holds a great place in my heart. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I've never really been one to plan my whole wedding from a young age, but the church was always a definite. 

My Mum has always had a soft spot for Mike. She took him under her wing when his parents were unable to do the same. Now Michael and I are married, instead of seeing him as her 'Son-in-Law', she see him as her Son. 

Though she still enjoys the odd joke... here she's just told Mike, "Sorry Mike, did we forget to tell you? She's not coming." I was waiting outside and heard the laughter, but had no idea what it was about... now I do. 

I was and still am so proud of my Dad. I always knew that he would make a great father of the bride but it's not until your wedding day when you truly appreciate it. I was just so excited. I loved every second of our day. All the way in car I was waiting for the nerves to kick in... but they never did. Instead I was looking forward to seeing Michael, taking in every single moment. I remember the car pulling up to the church, hearing the bells, and saying, "oooh they're for me."

Wedding: The Morning

We received our wedding pictures today and to say that I was ecstatic about them would be an understatement. Both Michael and I are so in love with them. The quality is amazing. The emotions captures are incredible. And the eye for detail is unbelievable.  I'm slowing going through the process of editing the sizes for my blog, and as there are now 100s of pictures I'm going to do each section of our day. Plus I get to prolong our wedding day for just that bit longer this way. Cheeky Katie. 

So here's our morning. Our photographers were a husband and wife team who worked fantastically together to create the brilliant pictures. Though they managed to capture a lot unfortunately they could only be in one place at a time, but the 'best' best man in the world stepped up to the mark and took some fantastic pictures of  Mike on the morning of our wedding. 

We are so lucky to have been able to capture our wedding day. From looking through my Mum and Dad's wedding album it really does make me feel so privileged to have the pictures we have. Years ago when my parents were married it was at a time where digital photography did not exist, so you were lucky to have 20 pictures of your day. Where as now we have over 600 pictures of our wedding day all nicely store on our computers memory. Don't worry I wont put them all on this blog. haha.

Wedding: Cupcakes

The cupcakes I made for our wedding went down a treat. Everyone loved them. And I must admit so did I. I made them on the Friday night before our wedding day as I wanted them to be as fresh as possible, and so that the sponge was still moist. I planned on making my own cupcakes from the day we set the date for our wedding and I'm so glad that I did. The little flags in each cake were also handmade by the now husband. I told him what to do, and he made them perfectly. I am such a proud wife. 

Most people were in utter shock to find out that they were homemade, and my Nanna even wants to learn how to make them! Now this came as a complete shock to me, as it will do to you when you see the cake she made for our wedding day...

This fabulous creation was made by our 88 year old Nanna. I always wanted her to make my wedding cake, but never thought that she would be able to. I loved it. Unfortunately I don't like fruit cake, or I'd be wolfing it down. (though she did give me a bag of icing from it that I can munch on... shhhh!)

Overall the cupcakes did take four hours to make, but I loved every second of it, and wouldn't change it for the world. I think that even if I had more money than sense I still would have made my own. The whole process relaxed me, which is just what I needed the night before the wedding, it also kept me busy so I didn't think about the day ahead. 

The tricky part was transporting the cakes from our house, a 25 minute drive down the road to my parents house. haha. We had the best man in the back seat guarding two trays full of cakes spread out across the back, while holding two more, and a cake stand with more cakes between his knees. I was in the front seat with my Nanna's cake and more cupcakes balanced on top, and finally Mike driving as carefully as possible. But don't worry he didn't have any balanced on his head, though I would be surprised if he did. haha.


I've now been asked to bake some cupcakes for the Vicar's Birthday, and for me this is an honour. It'll be my way of thanking her for marrying us, and holding such a beautiful ceremony. I'd love to start my own mini business from baking, but for now baking for the Vicar's Birthday is more than enough. 

As you can tell we held our wedding reception at my parents home, and we loved every second of it. There are even people who didn't go to our wedding that are still talking about our day now. As each day goes by we hear from someone else how much they enjoyed it.

A Message From a Married Blogger

It feels like weeks since I last blogged, and before you think that this is one of those apology posts about being away it's not. haha. It's been less than a week since I've been on here, but whoah so much has happened. 

As you are all aware if you've been reading my blog, our Wedding Day was Saturday 14th May, and what a fantastic day it was. I always said that for me as long as Michael and I were married at the end of our wedding day then we had the perfect day, well I got that, plus lots more. The day was perfect. Not one thing went wrong, and we loved every second of it. I want to do a few posts from both Mike's and my perspective of the day, so I can remember it forever, but for now I'll leave you with a few pictures from our day. 

We get our official pictures on Thursday morning, which I am so excited about. So these are ones which our guest took of us. Which if these are the 'unprofessional' pictures, I cannot wait to see the 'professional' ones. 

When you hear couples talk about their wedding day and that it was the best day of their lives... it's true.

P.S I cannot wait to get back into the whole blogging thing again, I can't believe how much I actually missed it. We went away to Skegness for the weekend straight after our wedding day and it's pathetic to admit that I seriously had withdrawals from the internet, and Mike from his XBox. If it wasn't for my iphone I don't know what I would have done. haha. Now I'm going to sit back and catch up on the many, many blog posts I've missed while I've been gone.

Wedding: Wedding Favours

This whole wedding planning and organising is extremely tiring. We've been up since 9:30am and have been non-stop crafting. I have enjoyed it, but right now I can feel my eye lids getting heavier, and we've still got tons more to do. It's amazing once I finish a task, because the more I finish the more I can see all my ideas coming together. It is rather satisfying. 

I probably won't be posting much this weekend for obvious reasons, though I would love to, so I'll leave you with this post, and also leave you all with the 'carrot' of my wedding photos. (If you didn't get that reference - carrot on a stick + donkey... though that sounds like I refer to you all as donkeys, so on second thoughts that's probably not the best example.) 

My wedding favours - For my wedding we planned right from the word go on having a BBQ, plus I have been a ketchup lover for many, many, many years, so what better wedding favour than personalised ketchup bottles? 

Originally I scoured the internet for genuine ones, but unfortunately heinz only personalise their products in America and don't ship to the UK, so the only option was to create my own. And here we have it. 

 I used photo sticker paper, which is fantastic. It was so easy to do, though creating the perfect size proved to be a bit of a nightmare. 

The finished product. I love them so much. The large bottles are for the couples, and the small ones are for the singles. We've still got a few more to do, but a trip to Asda is needed as we ate some. haha.

Fingers crossed I'll be able to post a bit more before the big day, if not I will see you all very soon as Mrs Cahill.

P.S I went for my hair trial yesterday, and it looked beautiful. Though she did burn my nose with the curling tongs, so I'm hoping that Rudolph will be in fashion by Saturday. haha.

Wedding Shoes: Converse

The day finally arrived where I picked out my wedding shoes. Sunday 8th May 2011 I purchased my first pair of Converse low tops. It's a day to remember. In the end I decided to go with the classic dark blue. Michael has the high tops in this colour for our wedding day so we will also match. Aw how sweet?!

 I just need to alter the laces and I'm done. Am I the only one who hates criss cross laces? Why do they lace the shoes this way in shoe shops? Hmmm? I'm going to be one of the comfiest brides. 

I was an utter fool and originally put these on the coffee table to photograph, the usual place to take my blog pictures, when I heard my Mum's words echo through my mind, "Never put new shoes on the table."

I have no idea where this superstition originated but I gasped when I realised what I had done. I immediately deleted all the pictures taken which ultimately deletes all back luck I could have received from this act, or so I like to believe. So please wish me luck to also eliminate all future bad luck before our wedding day. Thank you.

The last Sunday being 'Single'

Today we needed to pick up a few more wedding supplies, Mike's shirt and my shoes to be precise. Obviously we ended up picking up a few more items along the way, and took a few pictures to add to my lovely blog.

I should have just typed everything from Primark, bar a few. haha.

Then we headed to Meadowhall, which is our closet large shopping centre, and I needed my wedding shoes so a large selection of shops was a must. 

I don't know if anyone else does this, but I like need to take a picture of where I park just incase I forget.

We managed to pick up everything we needed, so expect to see a haul post very soon, as naughty Katie also picked up a few summer dresses and shorts. 

On the way home we took the scenic route (I stumbled upon the word scenic then as I own a Renault Scenic so could not comprehend the word in two different forms.haha) and ended up stopping to take a walk along the canal. Not something we normally do, but it was a beautiful and unexpected change. 

No surprise that pictures were taken along the way so I'll let you enjoy a select few. It was a beautiful day, with fantastic natural lighting, so even though I wasn't using my high quality camera the pictures turned out perfect. 

Once home for some reason both Mike and I were motivated to clean, and three hours later we're sat relaxing in our lovely 'clean' home. I love Sunday's and will be so sad if we have to start working them. If I could offer someone who is just leaving school and looking at getting a job a little bit of advice... don't work in retail or pharmacy. You will never get nice working hours, and when you do, some big boss who works 9-5pm will change that for you. I only feel sorry for people who have families who work in retail, they really do get the poop end of the stick, at least with Mike and I we could stay up all night to see each other, whereas with children you just can't do that.

Enough of the moaning now. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Even if it wasn't the best one for you, pick out one great thing, I guarantee you there will be one.
