What I Wore

My first day off of EIGHT! How exciting! I love weeks off from work. No matter how much I love my job, and I really do, a week off is always necessary, and a lovely treat. So to kick start the week we headed off to a local craft fair. It was nice to just wander around and I hoped to gain a little inspiration, unfortunately the majority of stalls sold homemade cards and the few that did have felt items we're all very similar. I did see some button bags which I fell in love with but resisted because I knew that I would never use it.  And here's what I wore:

Happy He's Home...

We headed off to the folks today. We missed Sunday lunch as my Mum phoned to tell us that she 'knew how much I liked my sleep' so instead we were invited to 'tea', which was ham and homemade chips. Nom Nom. It turned out that the ham was orange ham. Yes you read that correctly, 'orange ham.' It was awful. I originally thought that it had been laced with washing-up liquid which clearly was a stupid thought. My Dad's home by the way. He's back for about a week to recuperate then off over-seas again. I think when it comes to missing someone you learn to cope, but then when they are back home you are suddenly hit with all those feelings that you fought back. I can definitely say that I missed my Dad. I'm not looking forward to him going again but I'm going to enjoy the time I have. At the end of the day people have it a hell of a lot worse.

On a brighter note, what do you think about the new bow. I rustled this one up this afternoon and I'm in love. I'm now about to open up my crafting boxes and create a few more for every outfit. How sad?! But totally fun. (*cough* Geek *cough*)

P.S Today I finished Lindsey Kelk's The Single Girl's To-Do List, so the review will be up in my monthly reads posts. But as a pre-warning it's not that good. In fact I didn't even force it upon my Mum which I usually do with all my favourite books. 

OOTD: Michael Style

I'm sat here mid-way through cutting out felt petals, with a belly covered in felt scraps, and decided what a perfect time to post Michaels OOTD post. haha.

Funnily enough he's dressed from head to toe in Primark excluding the shoes, though they are not in the picture anyway. I guess I'm not as good at taking OOTD pictures as Michael. I love these pictures and though it's not an actual OOTD, I do love how they tell a story. He starts by sulking, then poses, then pokes his tongue out in defiance, then laughs. Oh how I love my husband.

OOTD: Peach Polkadots

I picked up these shorts from Tesco's 50% sale for £5. I ordered them online and within a week they had arrived safe and sound at my door. I love the colour and knowing me and my love for polkadots the pattern is just perfect. I love how my new shorts also match my nails here perfectly, which also means if you have Barry M's Peach Melba you know what colour these shorts are. Yay!  

I just wore my hair up high in a scruffy bun with the addition of my favourite hair clip. I love scruffy/messy buns. I usually wear this hair style to work when I really cannot be bothered with anything more complicated and strangely it always gets the most complements.

We decided to take a few pictures before heading out to Hobbycraft for some felt for a few projects I'm planning. I'm not the hugest fan of hobbycraft but they do have a larger selection of colours than anywhere else I know. If anyone knows of any other places that have a good supply of felt I would love to know, either stores or online, I don't mind either way.

OOTD: Clearly Fours

I picked up this dress in New Look a few weeks back for about £3 I believe, but have not had a chance to wear it, until today. I absolutely love it. It's so comfy and colourful. I did originally put on the one from my ebay haul but I'm not 100% sold on it yet so I changed. It may have to go in the to sell pile, but I'll give it a chance first.

Today we headed out to pick up our newly repaired car. We're very impressed as it only cost us £70 and that included repairing our exhaust. We've now found a reliable garage in our area, which apparently is very hard to find. Is it one of the strangest feelings to hand over your car keys to a complete stranger even if they do own a garage, but all turned out well in the end. 

I finished making two more bookmarks today and a hair clip. I'm slowly but surely building up stock for my shop. (Though I've already called dibs on the hair clip as you can tell by the pictures above. 

My last post mentioned how our bad luck comes in threes, well I must have been wrong as our fourth thing broke last night - the kitchen tap! Which then led to our first married argument as Mike attempted to repair it at midnight just as we were heading to bed. We're ok now though and still laugh at the thought of it. It's funnier still that every time we want to wash our hands, visit the bathroom or anything at all water related we have to run into the garage to turn on the water supply to the house. haha. It turns out that the tap is unrepairable and we need a new one, but that will have to wait until payday. One day we will learn to have a little bit of money behind us, but until then we'll just plod on. 

On a plus note we did pick up some cat and dog food on offer. I love bargains. Oh and Mike did treat me to the cutest pair of slippers ever, but you'll have to wait for my next post to see them. (I know, I know, I've just mentioned how skint we are but then bought some slippers, but in my defence they were only £5 and you definitely cannot get a new tap for that price.)

OOTD: Pretty Prints

Firstly I would like to start this blog post by thanking everyone who left a comment on my dress to impress blog post. It was loving to log on to such lovely, heartfelt comments. They made my day. It's lovely to know that we're all going through the same body image issues. That doesn't sound right. What I mean as it's nice to know that we're not alone. I'd also like to add that I try to respond to every comment so please check back because more than likely I've responded. I wish that blogger would make it easier to respond to comments but until then please check back.

On to the actual post: 

Yesterday I wore one of the h&m dresses which featured in my previous post, and I loved it. I felt super girly, and it was just so blooming comfy. It could possibly have become my new favourite outfit. I was unsure about teaming it up with the cardigan at first, in fear of a pattern overload, but I feel that it worked pretty well. I picked up the cardigan from New Look in the sale for only £10. It has 3/4 length sleeves which is perfect for me as I'm constantly rolling mine up. 

I french braided my hair and added one of my new homemade, DIY clips which I am also in love with. I don't know about selling these beauties... I end up wearing them before I get a chance! Never mind try before you buy, it's more like try before you sell! Well at least it's free advertisement.

I love wearing my hair like this. French plaits are kind of my go to hair style when I don't want to use any heat on my hair, or if I need something quick but pretty. I love how plaiting the hair to the side gives it a more relaxed, casual yet summery feel. 

Finally before I left the house I remembered my bird necklace and needed wanted to wear it. I bought this about a year ago now but only came across it the other day whilst clearing out a cupboard. I also found some other bits and pieces, so keep an eye out for those in an up coming post. Oh and I always wear the silver necklace, so I didn't feel the need to take it off just because I was wearing another one. That's just me!

P.S. Before I forget the leggings are from Asda, and they are the most comfortable leggings I have ever worn. They did not fall down once all day! I really recommend them. And for only £6 a pair, a complete and utter bargain! 

If it's broke... fix it!

I picked up this dress in Primark a couple of weeks ago. Now I don't know if it's just me but these dresses are a nightmare to get hold of. Don't get me wrong, they always have plenty in stock which is great.. if you're a size 6 or 8, but unfortunately I was not bless with a high metabolism. So when I spotted this lurking at the back I jumped with joy. 

Now yes, as you can see by the picture (professionally modelled by me. haha) the strap is broken. The look on the ladies face was a picture when she realised that I wanted to buy a broken item of clothing, but come on it's only a strap. 

Today I decided that I wanted to wear it, so out came the needle and thread, and of course the camera for my lovely blog. 

And you can't let this post go by without Katie's concentration face. haha. Thank you Mike for that one.

Show me your pants!

We headed to Tesco today for some much needed shopping and spotted these amazing pants. I would show you a picture in the packaging but Mike being the eager beaver that he is opened them before I got a chance. Men! 

We spotted a similar pair in Primark a while back but decided not to pick them up as Katie has issues and they just weren't soft enough. Now I'm glad that we waited. These cost £12 and are super soft and that is before they've even been washed. I now have a happy husband. In fact thinking about it, this is the first gift I've bought my 'husband.'

I'm actually shocked that he hasn't made me swear that I wont wear them. Haha. Well it is still early doors.

Catch Up: O.O.T.D 1

Obviously planning a wedding took it's toll, and meant I could blog as much as I wanted to. But that didn't stop me from taking pictures. A lot of the time when I take my camera out I have my blog in mind. It really is my little baby. I love it. I love sharing my life with you guys. I love receiving comments from you all and replying to each and every one. Seriously, everything about my blog I love. So I didn't want all these pictures to go to waste, so I thought I'd do a few catch up posts. I'll mix up all these catch up posts with my usual posts, but you'll know they are here by the title.

This was from a week ago when I went for my hair trial and a spot of waxing. My hair looked fantastic, but she did burn my nose with the curling tongs, which left me with a red scab on my nose for my big day, but luckily a lot of concealer helped on the day. Plus I was put completely at rest by the lovely comments that the photographer could edit it out if it looked bad... which to be honest it didn't.

Quick OOTD plus IKEA temptations

Just a very quick outfit of the day post. After Mike finished work we headed off to Ikea to pick up a few bits for our wedding. We had to make it there and back ready for our appointment with our wedding photographers at 8:30pm. 

♥ For some reason I look slightly uncomfortable here, but believe me I wasn't. 

♥ I curled my hair with my conical wand, which I am now in love with. I hated it when I first bought it, but now I think it's the best thing since sliced bread. 

♥ I love these jeans from Primark, they are so comfortable, though I've got to do a bit of DIY on the button as I'm not too keen on the purple. 

♥ It was a little chilly out today, but not enough to wear a coat, so instead I opted for this jumper for Matalan. I'm sure it was only £4 in the sale. Bargain! 

♥ ♥ We managed to pick up all we wanted from Ikea, plus a few extras that we didn't plan on buying. Which is to be expected. I love ikea so much and I'm sure I could happily live there. 

I'll just leave you with this picture to ponder over and to just imagine whats inside. haha. The full post will be up sometime soon. 

♥ ♥ Tomorrow we're off to our very first car boot which is so exciting, but slightly nerve racking.  My plan is not to sleep tonight though for fear that I don't wake up. We've got to be there for 5:30am to set up our stall, so a very early start to the day. 

♥ ♥ And in regards to our Wedding Photographers. We have finally chosen them. I am completely in love with their pictures and they are the nicest couple you could ever meet so it's just a plus all round. It now means I'm a lot less nervous for our Wedding day as I think I will feel very comfortable in front of the camera with such lovely people behind it... if that makes sense.

Pant Theft: The story of confidence boosting

You know those rare days where you wake up feeling oh so blooming confident? Well I had one of those days today. I sure it wont last long, but whilst it’s here I better make the most of it.

Michael offered me my favourite shorts of his and I accepted. I don’t know if you will understand how much this means to me. It’s not because he gave me his clothes to wear, because lets face it I steal his clothes all the time, but more because they actually fit me! And Michael is such a skinny retch. (I mean that affectionately, honestly.)

I even felt that good that I was willing to take pictures with no make-up. Shock, horror! 

So what have we learnt from this post? 

Go forth and steal the partners pants! Haha! 

You will feel so much better in them, than in your own!

Sunshine through my window, that's what you are...

I know you've probably read this a thousand times before, but the weather is amazing. We have sun. It makes me motivated to take Millie for the longest walk down the woods. Once Mike gets home from work I think that's what we'll go and do. So far I've spent the day wandering around, tidying here and there, but mainly waiting for Mike to finish work. I'm soppy like that. Millie is definitely enjoying this weather more than anyone, in fact she's taken all her soft indoor toys outdoors. She acts like a child. 


Today I also finally found the self-timer setting on my camera, and this is what happened...

We're having a major clear out soon. I think this season has motivated me to have a spring clean. Funny that, huh? I've loads I need to sell, loads that need to be taken to charity shops, and loads that just need to be binned. I think it's time to play with ebay again. We're also planning on having a car boot sale next weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to raise some much needed cash for our wedding. Even though most will be handmade, and the reception is taking place at home, it's still costing an arm and a leg. 

I'm thinking about opening up a etsy store to sell all my felt creations, and to raise some funds, but I have no idea where to start, or if anyone would want them. Haha. *nervous laugh* If anyone has done this, advice would be greatly appreciated.

Double Trouble: OOTD No1

Just a quick OOTD post before we head off to bed. After a long day a work, we headed off to Mike's friend's house for a few hours, where Mike asked him if he would be best man. Obviously the answer was yes, but it is a slightly tricky situation as they are expecting their first child a week after our wedding. Fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Quite a boring, but ever so comfy outfit. The top is green, even though for some reason it looks brown here. Ergh. In fact an awful picture all round, yet another reason why me and our Cannon point and shot are not on speaking terms. On a brighter note I have fallen even more in love with these jeans, from my recent post. They are so soft, and comfy. It's like wearing PJ's outside. The bag was a Christmas present from my Mum, but I've only just got round to using it. It has started to soften up, though I've now developed an issue with over-filling it, which causes painful shoulders. Uh-oh. Anyway...

Super Skinny Jeans. Yeay? or Nay?

After a long day at a work, much needed retail therapy was deserved. It's been a tough week, which I won't get into, but believe me when I say, I needed these bits.

Now I was never interested in the whole jeggings phase. To be honest I think it was purely the elasticated waist band that put me off. Then on Thursday night I noticed this blogpost by the lovely Jennie. I couldn't believe it. She had only gone and found herself the perfect pair of jeggings.... only they're not jeggings. They are super skinny jeans. So they have the proper 'jeans' waist band. Whoop whoop. Off to Asda I had to go...

Believe me these were tricky to take, thanks Ikea. 

... a few hours later I returned home to try them on. And I think I like them. I especially enjoy the bum shot. Haha. I have a huge problem with my thighs, topped of by awful knees, but I don't think I mind how these look. In fact I would say I like them. And for only £12.50 not to bad at all.

I think I've found a keeper.
