Barry M Peach Melba

After noticing the gorgeous Barry M Nail Paint, Peach Melba in Boots the other day I've been dying to try it out and last night was the night. It's quite strange but recently I've gone nail polish free which is unusual for me so it felt nice having bright, colourful nails again. I love them. The application was perfect and after only two coats I was left with a bold opaque colour. It has worn slightly during the day which is to be expected really as I have been a busy bee, but I think they will still look fine for a few more days.

I've been a huge fan of accent nails for quite some time but instead of choosing a different colour (because I love this one so much!) I opted for polkadots which I am equally obsessed with. I've had so many compliments at work today so I think Barry M's sales will have increased slightly once again. I think this has got to be my new favourite summer colour.

What nail varnish are you currently sporting?

NOTD: I've 'Bee'-n Buzzy

I've had a thing about nail art recently. I think it's because my nails are long and in such good condition recently, which then means I have the urge to paint them all sorts of pretty colours with funky colours. Plus I'm off work at the moment with no wedding to plan for, which means I have more time on my hands. Yeay! I love my job and I loved my wedding, but it's nice not to think about them for a while.

Here's my latest creation. When I say my creation I mean that I painted them, but the inspiration came from here. I saw this video sometime last year and for some reason today it popped into my head. I love them. She explains how to do them so much better than I ever could. Though the video I've linked must have been re-uploaded because I'm positive I saw this last year, but this video is dated March 2011. Very odd. Anyway...

I love bumble bees and I love how much they make me think of summer.

Nails: Polkadot Nails

Last night I finally took off my Wedding Nail Varnish which was a little sad. To be fair it was chipping, and rightly so as I did paint them the morning of the wedding without a base or top coat. So as it was a hard and sad task... haha... I decided to go for some uplifting nails. And I love them.

At fist I wanted spotty nails, because who doesn't love polkadot nails? But they also created a fun night in with the husband. To me they remind me of Super Mario's Yoshi Eggs. But Mike's first reaction was SuperTed. My response to this was a very blank face indeed. I googled it.

Katie, "Michael how on earth do my nails remind you of SuperTed?"

Mike, "Type in SuperTed sidekick"

Katie," hahaha"

We then proceeded to watch episode after episode of SuperTed on youtube. I love it. We laughed so much. His sidekick is so funny. Who knew that painting your nails could create so much fun? haha. (in fact now I've told Michael what I'm writing, he's singing the theme tune. I love this man.)

The Royal Wedding: Excited

I've never really been very patriotic, (what a way to start this post.haha.) but recently the Royal Wedding has excited me. I think it's partly to do with our upcoming wedding, and that weddings in general excite me, and partly do with Kate Middleton. I really like her. I don't know why as I don't know her, and I have probably only heard her speak once, but I must admit I have a soft spot for that woman. I can relate with a faction of the nerves she must be feeling right now. I say a fraction, because no bride on this planet could be as nervous as how she must be feeling. In regards to my big day I'm terrified about walking down the aisle with close family and friends watching me, I think I would be in bits if it was the whole world.

So with the sudden burst of love for the Royal Family, I thought I'd do the only thing worth while, and paint my nails ready for the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. How else would we show our respect for their big day?

Try to look past the poop shot and look only at the nails

It really is a pity that I'm at work tomorrow as I'll miss all the action, but Mike has promised to sky + all the best bits. I'm not sure if sky + -ing the Royal Wedding could be classed as disrespectful. haha.

Also walking round Asda last night we came across a tin of biscuits and a box of fudge with Kate & Will's face plastered all over them, so of course I had to have them. I know deep down Mike must be having second thoughts about our wedding in relation to my recent obsession with the Royal Family, but really he should only start to worry once we have children. Haha. Nahh, I'm only joking there won't be any little Williams and Kate's from us any time soon.

Trying out the Gangster look with Kate and Wills

I'll have to leave you all now, we've got to rescue a Royal Biscuit from Mike's tea. They keep thinking they are blooming scuba divers.

Froggies on my nails

Rrribbit... ribbit...

They remind me of little frogs. I love them. I'm even tempted to name them all, but then I'll only be disappointed when they croak! Haha!

I did both hands, and for some odd reason, my right hand was the easiest to do. Not normally the case, but I'm not going to complain. I find it funny that ever since I painted them both me and Mike have been croaking at each other.

I originally saw something similar posted on someones blog, but I can't for the life of me remember who. If I find it, I will post it here so you can have a look. They only had one nail pained with 'googily eyes,' but I'm always the one that takes it too far.
I also felt that they all needed to be looking in different direction. Both Mike and I's favourite is the one that looks like a deer caught in headlights, I'm sure you know which one.

To create this, here's what I used:

Barry M - Base-coat, Topcoat and hardener, Models Own - Grace Green, Konad - white, and Collection 2000 - fast stroke eyeliner.

* I always start with the Barry M base-coat. It works so well, so much so that this is my second bottle, because the first ran out, and not because it dried up.

*I then used TWO COATES of Models Own, Grace Green. I love this shade. I received this for Christmas for a work colleague along with a few others, and I've worn it so much since.

* To create the whites of the eyes I used the lid from the Collection 2000 eyeliner. I firstly poured a bit of the Konad White onto some paper, then dipped the lid, then dipped it onto my nail. Very easy, and highly effective. (Konad nail varnish is slightly thicker than a normal nail varnish, so it creates a stronger colour with only one coat)

*Then for the pupils I use the eyeliner itself. I just drew in the pupils. You could create a uniformed look, and have all the eyes looking the same way, or all over the place like mine. It's up to you.

*Finally apply a topcoat, and your done!
