Picture this: 2

We're here again with my second instalment of picture this, a collection of random pictures from my week.
I love these posts as these pictures seem to be nothing special, be in fact remind of such special/irritating/fun times.

1. A lovely walk with Mike, Millie, and me, where both Millie and I were fascinated by the blossom trees. I also attempted to teach myself cartwheels to no avail.
2. Never inform your partner that you are about to do a 'whats in my bag' post, as you will find extra items in there.
3. This antique was originally my Granddad's. He used this in school. Normally we use it to write little notes to each other, or shopping lists, now we use it to scare each other at how close our wedding day is.
4. Millie was not impressed this day. I was ill so couldn't take her for a walk, so obviously she got the arse on. To be honest she broke my heart a little.
5. Our car broke down (once again) which meant we had to wait 2 hours for the AA to get to us. Luckily I had my book with me. It turned out to be a plug that is known in Renaults to come loose. I'm glad that we now know, but not so happy that we had to wait 2 hours to find out.

So there you have it, my week in pictures. Each of these pictures make me smile in their unique way.
Hope you all had a good week.

Wedding Planning: A few ticked off the list

Today has been a rather hectic but productive day. I had an early start due to my wedding dress fitting appointment, which was a 9:30. Though this was originally a daunting time for me, now I'm rather grateful as it enabled me to cram so much into my day. At the beginning of today I was so nervous for our Wedding day, after yesterday when it hit me that we had just over 3 weeks left until the big day, and not a lot had been organised. Now as I sat here typing this I'm starting to look forward to it.

The dress fitting went well. The dress still needs some slight alteration on the bum area, but these should be sorted by next Friday. It's quite strange to think that on the morning of the Royal Wedding, I'll be having my final dress fitting for my wedding dress.

This is a quick shot I took while trying to figure out the lighting. I'd love to show the pictures of my dress, but I'm going to save that for the 14th May.

Next we headed off to a flower shop. The one we chose was a recommendation from my Mum, and even though she had not been for years, they were lovely. My original plan of daffodils for my bouquet was not meant to be as they have all now died, but my second choice turned out to be perfect. I want to call them gerbils....

Gerber Daisies. The lady who helped us had so much patience with me. Organising a wedding is so far away from my comfort zone, that making a decision, sometimes requires a little bit of help. The colour combination she chose was just perfect. She will also keep the stems quite long with ribbon to hold them together. We then chose the white ones for the button holes.

As soon as we got home I got started on making our wedding invites. I had my mind set on making them out of salt dough, but the smell of them baking had put me off for so long. Even to the point that come our wedding day we would have no guest.

Once they had baked, I gathered them all up to take to my Mum's to paint.
I will dedicate an entire post for these as they were so fun and rewarding to make.

By 3:30, I had almost completed all the painting, just in time for my hair appointment at 4pm. I tried to wait for 2 weeks before the wedding for this, but my split ends were driving me mad. At this appointment, I managed to organise my hair appointment for my wedding day, and book in my trial appointment, and to top it all off book in for all the waxing a girl would need for their wedding day.

I feel so much better after all this, as I've managed to tick off 3 more big things from the never ending wedding to do list. I really am starting to look forward to our wedding day, rather than dreading it, from lack of organisation.

I hope your week is going well.

Falling Almost Pain Free

As I'm sure you will be aware if you have read my previous posts, I pole dance as a hobby, sport or however you want to describe it. The last time I posted about this I actually lost a follower, which meant that the post clearly offended them. This shocked me slightly as I had believed that the sport had become more socially acceptable, and even at times described as gymnastics on a pole. It really can be beautiful, and it fills me with such awe at times to watch experienced poll dancers and see the complete skill they have for their sport.

Which leads me nicely onto this my next topic. I have recently wanted to try more advanced move on the pole, like inverts, but as you can imagine turning your entire body upside down while only holding onto a pole can be rather nerve racking. Especially since my pole of choice is an xpole. Fantastic pole, but  when new can be quite slippery, and tricky to gain sufficient hold at times. I believe that this is due to the chrome coating. This does wear off over time, but until then I need a safety net. There are pole mats available specifically designed to be used for pole dancing to prevent damage from falling, but these can be quite expensive. A lot of people use sofa cushions, but ours are unfortunately not detachable.

A good few years now, my Mum created some foam cushions for a wooden sofa my Dad made. She never did get round to making fabric cushion covers for them, but she fully line them to protect the foam. These were then discarded into the garage when they bought a new sofa. This was probably about 5 years ago now.

I'm sure you've spotted the connection between the two.

Tonight once we got home from visiting friends I made Mike fish these cushion out of the garage. I originally thought that their were four, but it seems my memory had failed me as there were only two. Still completely adequate to prevent from injury. Fingers crossed.

So then came the testing...

My hands actually slipped as I tried to get down from this move, and I quickly plummeted to the ground.  And guess what? No pain! In fact I actually bounced a little. Haha. I'm very impressed, and it didn't even cost me a penny. It's also nice to put a use to something that would have only been sent to the tip.

I'm planing on adding velcro to the sides to I can keep them together when in use. The last thing I need is for them to slip from under me. This should be quite easy to do, and cost next to nothing. I love it. I'll be able to practice more advanced moves, with only my irrational fear to face, as theres no way I can hurt myself if I fell on these beasts.
