Happy Birthday To Me: A Celebration of Katie

Yesterday I celebrated my 23rd birthday. It's hard to believe that I've already had 23 years on this planet. At 12:05am on the 17th August I text my Mum on the way to bed to remind her that 23 years ago at said time I was 'wriggling about in her womb.' As you can tell the excitement of my birthday hit pretty early on in the day. So I thought today I would show you a cuter time in my life, a time when birthdays were super duper exciting. (secretly for me they still are.) It's a strange to think that I went from this...

I love my birthday so much. We only spent about £3.50 and spent all day outside which is a plus in my opinion. We gained many lovely memories and many not so lovely memories (eg. adders.) But through all the excitement of my birthday we cannot forget that this time last year Michael and I got engaged. On Wednesday 17th August we celebrated one year of engagement and 3 months of marriage. I love Michael more now that I ever thought possible and I can only imagine that this love with continue to grow.

I'm now off to sit back and enjoy a cup of tea and worry about Big Brother.

Birthday Wish List: Beauty Style

Last but not least my beauty birthday wish list! How fun. I love beauty so what could be better than lusting over pretty items of make-up (well except lusting over books.) These are the items I wish I could get... not that I've asked for any of these items this year. I guess I'm just hoping that people can read my mind...

And there we have it, the last instalment of my Birthday wish list. I hope you have enjoyed a peek into my shallow side. Tomorrow we'll find out what I actually get. I cannot wait. I'm not expecting anything lavish this year and we all have fallen on rather tough times, but for me it's definitely the thought that counts, and my friends and family are the most thoughtful people around.

Birthday Wish List: Geek Style

A wish list would not be complete without my much desired 'geek items.' As you all should know, I'm a geek at heart. I love my games and gadgets, my books and dvds, and of course my beloved dslr. Most of the items on my wish list I will never own, like the ipad (sad face) but I can always live in hope...

ipad 2 / books - Matched / I heart Hollywood / Forever / One Day (and many more) / Ray-Bans / Nikon 50mm lens / Medium / Being Erica / L.A. Noire / Giraffe iphone case

I'm so in love with all these items, especially the iphone cover, it's so cute. My favourite animal has to be the giraffe, they also hold a place in both Michael and I's heart.

Birthday Wish List

So with the birthday fast approaching (two days... eeek!) I thought I'd do a few 'birthday wish list' posts. Of course when you think of a birthday 'wish' list you think of all those unobtainable items that you really really want, but really really cannot afford, so here we go...

No surprise there then that there are a few topshop and accessorize items lurking in my wish list. Well a girl can dream...

Happy Birthday Nanna

My Nanna turned the grand old age of 89 on June 10th, so to celebrate we took her out for a meal. Three generations of women sat around one table means the world to me. She spent her actual birth-'day' in the Isle of White which is where she was born and spend her childhood, before moving to good old Yorkshire to start her married life.

Country Lunch

My Nanna was her usual cheeky self and we ate, laughed, and joked all afternoon. I love spending time with her, and the more time my Mum and I spend with her, the more we begin to realise where our sense of humour comes from.

Beef Burger

I enjoyed a beef burger (as usual) with cheese and bacon, Nom Nom! My Mum and Nanna both enjoyed  scampi and chips. I must admit that though the food was amazing we wont be going back. I just think that it doesn't take that much of a effort to be nice and friendly, so I would prefer to give my custom to somewhere else. Yes I am a mardy moo. haha.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

We popped into Morrison's on the way home. I don't know if it's just that Monday feeling but there are so many grumpy people around today. This then lead to my Nanna muttering that the cashier could 'kiss her arse' under her breath, which lead to my Mum and I bursting out in fits of laughter. I love how old people just say exactly what we think! She then ran through those moving doors that they always have in Morrison's. Yes you know the ones. They terrify me. I've never seem my Nanna move so fast. Both my Mum and I have said that we're going to have to get her a trolly for Christmas. haha!

Hope you all had a lovely Monday, we definitely did.

WARNING PHOTO HEAVY POST!

This year we decided to try something different. Normally Katie the control freak will plan her birthday from the moment she wakes to the moment she goes to bed.
2010 I thought that it was time to release the control and give it a new home in the safe hands of my amazing partner Michael.
I gave no clues to what I wanted to do.
I was given no clues to what I was going to do.
Surprisingly I also had no fear about whether my day would go well or fall to pieces.
I trusted that wherever we went as long as we were together we would have fun.
Mike had been planning the day for months, and the anticipation of the day had been slowly driving me mad for the same amount of time.
Finally the day arrived.
He woke me at 7am the time that I was born to bacon bagels and a pink rose.
I opened my presents and got ready for the day ahead.
I was then given the choice of finding out where we were going before we set off or once we got there.
I'd already waited 2 months what was another few hours?
He drove.
I read.
We ended up in York.
Our favourite city.
Firstly he took us to York Maze.
This place is a-maze-ing.
We had such a good time.
We spent some time looking at the animals in the farm.

Despite all the signs warning that the animals may bite, Mike decide to stroke the pigs.

This had the most beautiful eyes.

The troll from under the bridge gave us a bit of a fright.

Oh wait that's me.

We then headed of to the maze....

...following our trusty map

Spot the Michael.

We then got lost...

a look of defeat!

We then headed to York city centre.

and took a long walk round the city walls.

Overall we had a fantastic day.
I couldn't have wished for a better day.
Any day out with my man is the best day ever.
