Wedding: DIY Hair clips

I decided a long time ago that when I got married I wanted long hair. A few years ago I decided that now was the time to grow it. Never in my life have I had long hair, it's always been so short as my hair just looked awful once it got past a certain length. For some reason all that has changed. I don't know if it's because I take much greater care with it, or that it's just the way it goes. Either way I'm so happy with it. I'm still growing it, but I'm happy with the length in regards to my wedding day.

Because of the length of my hair I always wanted it down for my wedding day. Why spend years growing it just to have an up do?

I decided upon half up/half down, for no other reason than that is what I've wanted. I've never really looked into any other hair styles, this is just the one that stuck.

Then came the issue of what to hold my hair back with on my big day? I originally bought a clip with more of a diamante design to it, then I thought that this may clash with the faux pearl head band I want to wear (which I'm yet to buy, tomorrow I promise.) Then in boots the other day I came across these beauties.

The only problem is the pink. The earring I'm wearing which is my something old, is a white rose  broken earring that my Mum's had for years. Do you get extra points for having a 'something broken' as well as the compulsory old, new, borrowed blue? As you can tell the roses on the clip are pink.

So out comes the trusty white Barry M Nail Paint:

And tad-dar two coats later I have white not pink roses.

My camera clearly doesn't like them as much as I do, they look amazing in real life

It still needs another coat as I can still see a slight tinge of pink, but I'm just too impatient to wait to take a picture once it's complete. haha.

Space Savers: DVDs

To some this post may be so disrespectful to... DVDs. At first we thought the same, until we thought about it logically. We've needed more space recently, spring cleaning, clearing out lots of clutter, and generally getting rid of thing we don't need anymore. Hence the recent car boot sale we did. (mini info at *end of this post*) Which brought us to our rather large DVD collection, and what to do with it. We have one full cupboard full of DVDs and another which is slowly but surly filling up.
I'm embarrassed to admit that this isn't all of them, and there's also a large quantity that are still sealed.

So we asked ourself the most important question, (referring to DVDs not the most important question)
Why do we keep them in the cases?
♥ because you're meant to.
♥ because they look pretty that way.
♥ 'incase' we ever wanted to sell them. (Pun not intended)

So if we love the movie, and want to watch it over and over again, and we know that we would never want to sell it, then why are we taking up space keeping the cases?

It was definitely a hard decision, but we have decided to transfer all our DVDs into one large carry case. Except box sets of course, because:
♥ the are already designed to hold many DVDs in such a minimal space.
♥ that really would be disrespectful to DVDs.

I actually really like it so far. I've haven't yet binned the cases, but so far I don't regret doing this.

So there you have it, we've done the unthinkable, now we've just got to try to find somewhere to recycle these empty cases instead of just binning them. You've got to do your bit for the planet. I'm also going to keep all of the DVD sleeves, I'm not sure what for yet, but I'll find something fun to do with them all.

*I would write a full post about the car boot sale, but I'm not sure it's worth it. If anyone wants me to, or would find it helpful then message me and I will get a post up soon, but for the mean time I'll leave you with this:
I would say I won't ever do it again, as it was such an uncomfortable and filthy experience, but on the plus we did make £90 from items we would have either binned or given to charity, which is what will happen to all the items we brought back.*

Drinking - Diet Coke because we've ran out of tea bags! Shameful!

Picture this Sunday: 3

I know I've done so many posts today and I'm sure you're getting slightly fed up, but as mentioned previously I've wanted my blog to become slightly more structured, which includes my weekly 'Picture This' posts. I decided upon Sunday, as for me this seemed like a natural choice for an end off week picture summary. So lets get cracking:

1. Michael pretending he's from the middle ages in Ikea. haha.
2. My first McDonald's chocolate muffin (the best muffins in my opinion) after giving up chocolate for lent.
3. A Royal Cupcake. Given to me when I went to my final dress fitting. It may have been an awful experience due to one member of staff who was clearly bitter about working on a bank holiday, but at least one good thing came out of it.
4. This is how I find Jake every night before I go to bed. (If Michael has gone before me, that is.) He likes to protect his Dad, by guarding the landing whilst he's asleep. Good cat.
5. Jump in... the first two words you find when you open the XBOX. I don't think we'd fit though. Haha. (you are so funny Katie)
6. I mentioned to my Dad I wanted our names carved into one of the many random logs in my parents garden for our wedding day, and this is what he came up with. He really is the best Dad.

So there we have it, my selection of pictures from my week that have no other home. I enjoy making these post and it will now be a weekly feature, that I will try to put up on a Sunday.

Currently listening to: Irritating neighbours drunkenly screaming, shouting and singing. They are middle aged by the way, so no spring chickens. (oh and it just got worse, we now have poop music playing)
We did want to watch Doctor Who, but theres no point as we wont even be able to hear it. Sorry for the little rant as I hate negativity on my blog, but this happens so often that it slowly drives you insane, and there's no doubt it will go on until the early hours of the morning. It wont be so funny when I can't sleep and decide that the hoovering needs be done... at 4am! HA! (I say that but I wont actually be able to do it, as I'm not a knob.)

Drinking: Nothing. I'm waiting for my cup of tea which I think Mike has forgotten to make. Don't worry I'll remind him again in a minute. haha.

Speak Soon,
